First Time Skaters

Welcome new skaters to the Ice Realm family!  We are so excited you have chosen to start your skating journey with us and hope we can help you to enjoy skating for many years to come.  It is common to not know where to start; you've come to the right spot.  Below is a breakdown of classes based on age that are appropriate for any new skater to register for.

New skaters 3 - 5 years of age should register for any Snowplow 1 class

New skaters 6 - 17 years of age should register for any Basic 1 class

New skaters 18 years of age and up should register for any Adult 1 class

Before you go, we have a few tips and tricks to help make your first class day a great success!  

Ice realm Carlsbad is the coolest place in town, literally!  We recommend skaters wearing warm, flexible clothing and gloves!  Helmets are not required but always recommended.  A well-fitted bicycle helmet will work just fine.  Thin, long socks help feet more comfortable in rental skates and keep toes warm.  Ice Realm suggests arriving 20 minutes prior to your first class day.  This allows a skater plenty of time to lace up and become oriented with the arena.  Lastly, please take a few moments to watch the fun, first day preparation video from Learn To Skate USA below.
